When Red Lines Appear in the Sclera

Our bodies are built to be self-healing. We notice when we have a simple injury such as a cut or bruise, each day we can see a progression of healing. While these injuries do create stress on the body, we are generally able to heal quickly and without doing much of anything differently. These types of injuries do not create long term stress that will show up in the scleras.

If a cut were to become infected and create systemic infection, this could most definitely show up in the sclera. Where? A line would travel from the source reflex area to the reflex area(s) most affected. The type of line (straight, curved, squiggly, jagged, etc.) would indicate the degree of congestion/degeneration. With healing, lines can fade, soften or even disappear.
